Chess Rules - The Queen
The Queen is your ultimate weapon. When sent into battle, she dominates the field in all directions. However, she must be protected from less valuable pieces, as she is often vulnerable to attack.
Where the Queens Start
Each side starts with 1 Queen.
The Queen is placed along the edge, on the centre square of her own colour. The white queen goes on the light square, and the black queen on the dark square. "Queen on her colour."
How the Queen Moves
The Queen combines the moves of the rook and bishop. She moves in a diagonal line or a straight line in any direction.
The Queen can move any number of squares, but not off the edge of the board.
The Queen can't jump over friendly or opposing pieces.
How the Queen Captures
The Queen captures opposing pieces by moving onto their square and replacing them.
